Authorship Criteria

BARISTA: Jurnal Kajian Bahasa dan Pariwisata recognizes authorship based on substantial intellectual contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research. All individuals listed as authors must meet the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contribution
    Authors must have made substantial contributions to the conception and design of the study; acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; or development of the research methodology.

  2. Contribution to the manuscript
    Authors must have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Approval of the final manuscript
    All authors must have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before submission and agree to be accountable for the content of the work.

  4. Accountability and integrity
    Each author is expected to take responsibility for their contribution and to cooperate in addressing questions related to the accuracy, integrity, and ethical aspects of the research.

  5. Agreement on authorship
    The order of authors should be agreed upon by all authors before manuscript submission. Any changes to the authorship, including the addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission, must be justified and approved by all authors.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the journal throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that:

  • all eligible contributors who meet the authorship criteria are appropriately listed as authors;

  • all listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript and its final version;

  • all authors have agreed to the order of authorship;

  • communication with the editorial office is properly maintained; and

  • any authorship-related issues are communicated to the editor promptly.

Contributors Who Do Not Qualify as Authors

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should not be listed as authors. Their contributions may instead be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section. Examples may include administrative assistance, technical support, language editing, proofreading, data collection assistance without intellectual contribution, or general supervision.

Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after manuscript submission must be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief with a clear explanation of the reason for the change. Such requests must be approved by all authors, including any author who is being added or removed.

The journal reserves the right to investigate authorship disputes and may follow the relevant COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines when resolving such matters.

Ethical Statement on Authorship

BARISTA: Jurnal Kajian Bahasa dan Pariwisata does not permit:

  • Gift authorship, where individuals are listed as authors despite not making a substantial contribution;

  • Guest authorship, where a person is included to increase the perceived credibility of the manuscript without sufficient contribution;

  • Ghost authorship, where an individual who made a substantial contribution is omitted from the author list; or

  • any other form of inappropriate or misleading attribution of authorship.

Authors are expected to ensure that authorship accurately reflects the intellectual contributions made to the research and manuscript.
