Manuscript Types
The International Journal of Sustainable Competitiveness in Tourism (IJSCOT) welcomes original scholarly contributions that advance knowledge and understanding of sustainable competitiveness in tourism. The journal encourages research that explores tourism sustainability, destination competitiveness, innovation, tourism management, community development, environmental responsibility, and related interdisciplinary perspectives.
Manuscripts should demonstrate academic rigor, originality, methodological appropriateness, and clear contributions to tourism scholarship, policy, or professional practice.
1. Research Articles
Research Articles report original empirical or analytical research that contributes to the understanding of sustainable competitiveness in tourism.

Research Articles should present a clear research problem, relevant literature, appropriate methodology, findings, critical discussion, conclusions, and implications.
2. Review Articles
Review Articles provide a systematic or critical synthesis of existing scholarly literature on topics relevant to sustainable competitiveness in tourism.
These manuscripts should identify significant research developments, evaluate existing evidence, clarify theoretical or methodological trends, and establish gaps that can guide future research.
Acceptable approaches may include systematic literature reviews, scoping reviews, bibliometric reviews, and other rigorous forms of evidence synthesis.
Authors should explain the review objectives, literature search strategy, selection criteria, analytical procedures, and limitations, as appropriate to the chosen review methodology.
A Review Article must provide a meaningful synthesis and scholarly contribution rather than merely summarize previously published studies.
3. Conceptual and Theoretical Articles
Conceptual and Theoretical Articles develop, extend, or critically evaluate theories, conceptual frameworks, and models related to sustainable competitiveness in tourism.
These manuscripts should be grounded in relevant academic literature and present a clear theoretical argument, logical conceptual development, and meaningful implications for future research or tourism practice.
Potential contributions include new frameworks for sustainable destination competitiveness, conceptual models of tourism resilience, theoretical perspectives on stakeholder collaboration, and integrated approaches to tourism sustainability.
The manuscript should clearly explain how its proposed arguments or frameworks advance existing knowledge.
4. Case Study Articles
Case Study Articles provide an in-depth investigation of a specific tourism destination, organization, community, policy, program, or business practice.
Case studies should address a clearly defined research problem and provide sufficient contextual information, appropriate evidence, and a systematic analysis of the case.
The discussion should identify insights that may inform tourism management, sustainable development, destination competitiveness, or future research.
Authors must ensure that relevant research ethics requirements, permissions, confidentiality obligations, and participant protections are addressed where applicable.
Descriptive accounts without sufficient analysis or scholarly contribution may not be suitable for publication.
5. Research and Industry Practice Implications
Regardless of manuscript type, submissions should establish a clear connection with sustainable competitiveness in tourism and explain the significance of their findings or arguments.
Authors are encouraged to discuss relevant implications for tourism researchers, destination management organizations, tourism businesses, local communities, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
The strength and relevance of the contribution will be evaluated in the context of the manuscript's objectives, methods, evidence, and intended scholarly contribution.
