Authorship Criteria

The Journal of Event, Travel and Tour Management (JETT) is committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. Authorship must accurately reflect the substantial intellectual contributions made by individuals to the research and manuscript preparation process.

All authors submitting manuscripts to JETT are required to comply with the following authorship criteria and responsibilities.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify for authorship, an individual must have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the manuscript through one or more of the following activities:

  • Conception or design of the research, study, or research framework.

  • Data collection, analysis, or interpretation of research findings.

  • Development of research methods, theoretical frameworks, or analytical approaches.

  • Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for significant intellectual content.

In addition, every author must:

  • Approve the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

  • Accept accountability for their own contributions and participate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of the work.

  • Agree to take collective responsibility for ensuring that questions regarding the integrity of any part of the research or manuscript are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Authorship should be based on substantive intellectual contributions rather than position, seniority, institutional affiliation, funding provision, or supervisory status alone.

2. Author Contributions and Responsibilities

All listed authors must have made meaningful contributions to the research and must be able to identify their respective roles in the study.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • The manuscript represents original work and is not under consideration by another journal, unless otherwise disclosed and permitted under the journal's policies.

  • All sources of information, data, and ideas obtained from other works are appropriately acknowledged and cited.

  • All listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to its submission to JETT.

  • The author list, institutional affiliations, and corresponding author information are accurate and complete.

  • Any potential conflicts of interest, relevant funding sources, and required ethical approvals are disclosed.

  • Research data and findings are reported accurately and are not fabricated, falsified, or misleadingly presented.

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication with the editorial office and confirming that all authors have approved the manuscript and the author list.

3. Order of Authors

The order of authors should be determined collectively by the authors before submission, based on their respective contributions and the conventions of their academic discipline.

The corresponding author must ensure that all authors agree to the proposed author order. JETT does not prescribe a universal order based on academic rank, seniority, or institutional position.

Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be supported by a clear explanation and written agreement from all affected authors. The editorial team may request additional documentation before considering such changes.

4. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all authors meet the journal's authorship requirements.

  • Obtaining approval of the manuscript from all co-authors before submission.

  • Providing complete and accurate author information.

  • Communicating editorial decisions and revision requests to all co-authors.

  • Ensuring that all authors approve the final version of the manuscript.

  • Disclosing relevant ethical concerns, conflicts of interest, and funding information.

The corresponding author must not include individuals as authors without their knowledge and consent.

5. Contributors Who Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Individuals who have contributed to a manuscript but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission.

Examples may include individuals who have provided:

  • Administrative or technical assistance.

  • Language editing or proofreading.

  • General supervision without substantial intellectual contribution.

  • Access to facilities, resources, or funding without meaningful scholarly involvement.

Such contributions should be acknowledged in an appropriate section of the manuscript. Acknowledgment does not replace authorship when the authorship criteria are met.

6. Unethical Authorship Practices

JETT does not permit unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Guest or honorary authorship: Listing an individual who has not made a qualifying scholarly contribution.

  • Gift authorship: Including a person as an author as a courtesy, reward, or obligation unrelated to their actual contribution.

  • Ghost authorship: Omitting an individual who has made a substantial qualifying contribution to the manuscript.

  • Unauthorized authorship changes: Adding, removing, or changing the order of authors without the required agreement.

Suspected authorship misconduct may be investigated by the editorial team. Depending on the circumstances and the stage of publication, the journal may request clarification, suspend editorial processing, reject the manuscript, or take other appropriate action in accordance with its publication ethics policies.

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and accountability of scholarly work.

Authors remain fully responsible for the content of their manuscripts, including material generated or assisted by AI tools. Where required by the journal's AI policy, authors must disclose the use of AI tools in manuscript preparation, data analysis, or other relevant research activities.

AI-assisted writing or editing does not, by itself, establish eligibility for authorship. Authors must ensure that all submitted content is accurate, appropriately referenced, and compliant with research ethics requirements.

8. Changes in Authorship After Submission

Requests for authorship changes after submission must be communicated to the editorial office by the corresponding author, accompanied by a clear explanation of the proposed change.

Written confirmation of agreement must be obtained from all affected authors, including any individual being added or removed. The editorial team reserves the right to request supporting documentation and to suspend the review or publication process while the request is assessed.

Authorship changes will not be accepted solely to accommodate personal, institutional, or administrative preferences.

9. Editorial Review and Compliance

JETT reserves the right to verify authorship information and investigate concerns regarding authorship at any stage of the editorial and publication process.

If a dispute arises, the journal may request clarification from the authors and, where appropriate, refer the matter to the relevant institutions for further investigation.

All authors are expected to cooperate with the editorial team and provide accurate information regarding their contributions.

By submitting a manuscript to JETT, authors confirm that the authorship information is accurate, all listed authors have approved the manuscript, and the submission complies with the journal's authorship and publication ethics policies.
