Authorship Criteria
Authorship Criteria
Jurnal Masyarakat Pariwisata (MP)
Jurnal Masyarakat Pariwisata (MP) establishes authorship criteria to ensure that every individual listed as an author has made a meaningful contribution to the implementation of community service activities and the preparation of the manuscript. This policy aims to uphold academic integrity, transparency in authorship, and accountability in scholarly publishing.
1. Authorship Eligibility
All individuals listed as authors in manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Masyarakat Pariwisata (MP) must meet the following criteria:
-
Substantial Contribution: Make a meaningful contribution to the planning, design, implementation, facilitation, monitoring, evaluation, or analysis of community service activities.
-
Manuscript Preparation: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual and scholarly content.
-
Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.
-
Accountability: Accept responsibility for their contributions and be willing to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and ethical quality of the work.
Administrative assistance, funding acquisition alone, provision of facilities, or institutional position does not automatically qualify an individual for authorship.
2. Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for:
-
Communicating with the journal's editorial team throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.
-
Ensuring that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed on the authorship order.
-
Providing accurate information regarding author identities and individual contributions.
-
Coordinating responses to reviewers' comments and submitting revised manuscripts in accordance with the journal's requirements.
-
Confirming that the manuscript is original and is not simultaneously under consideration by, or previously published in, another journal.
3. Contributions to Community Service Activities
Given the journal's focus on community service, authors' contributions may include one or more of the following activities:
-
Identifying community needs, local challenges, and issues affecting community development or tourism.
-
Designing community service programs, intervention methods, and implementation strategies.
-
Coordinating and implementing activities with communities, local organizations, tourism businesses, or relevant stakeholders.
-
Collecting, processing, and analyzing data related to program implementation.
-
Evaluating program outcomes, community benefits, and the sustainability of community service initiatives.
-
Interpreting findings and preparing the scientific manuscript.
Participation in community service activities alone is insufficient to establish authorship. Eligible authors must also contribute to manuscript preparation or substantive intellectual revision, approve the final version, and accept accountability for their work.
4. Authorship Order and Changes in Authorship
The order of authors should be determined by mutual agreement among the authors, taking into account their respective contributions to the work. Any changes to the author list, including the addition or removal of authors or changes to the authorship order after submission, must be supported by a clear justification and written consent from all relevant authors. Such changes are subject to approval by the journal's editor.
5. Guest, Honorary, and Ghost Authorship
Jurnal Masyarakat Pariwisata (MP) does not permit guest or honorary authorship, in which individuals are listed as authors without meeting the established authorship criteria. The journal also does not permit ghost authorship, in which individuals who have made substantial contributions and meet the authorship criteria are omitted from the author list.
All listed authors must have made genuine contributions to both the community service project and the scholarly development of the manuscript, consistent with the authorship criteria stated in this policy.
6. Author Contribution Statement
Authors are encouraged to provide an author contribution statement during manuscript submission. This statement should clearly describe each author's role in the community service project and manuscript preparation, including program conceptualization, methodology, implementation, data collection, analysis, supervision, writing, and manuscript revision.
The journal may use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) as a reference to improve transparency in reporting individual contributions. The use of CRediT does not replace the requirement that every author satisfy the journal's authorship criteria.
7. Ethical Responsibilities
All authors must uphold academic integrity, ensure the originality of the manuscript, acknowledge sources appropriately, and disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Authors must also ensure that community service activities respect the rights, safety, privacy, dignity, and interests of participating communities and partner organizations.
Where applicable, authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions and informed consent for the collection, use, and publication of data, photographs, testimonials, or other information involving community members.
By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Masyarakat Pariwisata (MP), all authors confirm that the authorship information and contribution statements provided are accurate and have been approved by all listed authors.
